Thoughts About the movie RUBY SPARKS

Have you ever imagine being in a relationship where in you are in control of everything? It sounds fun and exciting. It’s like having the perfect relationship you had in your mind for a very long time. It’s a combination of power and beauty that you long in your love story.

What if you can really control everything by just typing or writing what you want or how you want your relationship to be? Just by picking the write words you can make a perfect date for your partner. The best part of it is your partner's feelings. You are the master, the writer, the director and the actor of your own love story. What if you can? What will you do?

This is the story of Ruby Sparks. I have watched the trailer of this movie and thought that its one of a kind story but never had the urge to watch the full movie. Until a friend of mine posted in facebook that he is watching it and again I thought maybe I have to give it a try now because if a guy likes it then maybe I will too.

This is how the story goes. Calvin, a typical loveless genius writer who can make any story a best seller. He came from a 5-year relationship that his brother doesn’t even consider as one.

Calvin was thinking of a new subject for his new book and found an inspiration from a girl he was been dreaming for several times. There was a certain turning point in his dream that he decided to make a story out of that girl and he named her Ruby. It was a story of Ruby.

One morning a fictional character he made in his mind came to life and he realized that he has a control over her. Whatever he writes in his mini typewriter about Ruby comes true.
As a result of this an unimaginative capability, they became a couple. At first he thought it would work as normal relationship so he stopped writing. But when Ruby started trying to make a life on her own that’s when he used his power over her. He controls everything. He tries to make that platonic girl in his mind to be Ruby. He thought it would solve everything that when Ruby is sad he can make her happy by just writing “Ruby was happy”. That’s not how the things ended up. Every time he controls her it makes the situation worst to the point that Ruby wanted to leave him.

We always dream to have the perfect relationship or partner. We imagine that what we see in movies can really happen in real life. We hope that the fictional characters would really exist and one day we will meet one of them and have the same story with us. That is not how the real world works. The guys don’t always bring chocolates and flowers they sometimes cry. Girls don’t always cry when hurt they sometimes laugh. Perfect partner doesn’t exist and being in control doesn’t make your relationship perfect. A relationship should have flaws, ups and downs. Partners should fight and leave each other once in a while. We make our story but we can’t erase the bad part but the perfect thing is always at the end so make the ending worth waiting. Just like how Calvin ended his book.
